About Training Magazine
magazine is a 50-year-old professional development magazine that advocates training and workforce development as a business tool. The magazine delves into management issues such as leadership and succession planning, HR issues such as recruitment and retention, and training issues such as learning theory, on-the-job skills assessments and aligning core workforce competencies to enhance the bottom-line impact of training and development programs.
Written for training, human resources and business management professionals in all industries, Training combines a paid circulation with qualified, controlled recipients to deliver the strongest circulation in the market.
In addition to Innovations in Training 2016, Training magazine produces two other leading training-industry events: the Training Conference & Expo (celebrating its 40th year!) and the Online Learning Conference. Find out more!
About Our Partner: UCF’s Institute for Simulation & Training
The University of Central Florida’s Institute for Simulation & Training is an internationally recognized research institute that focuses on:
- Increasing our understanding of simulation’s role in training and education.
- Advancing human-centered modeling and simulation technology.
With more than $200 million in funded projects, the diversity of the industry is well-represented by the many disciplines making up IST’s nearly 300 staff, research faculty and part-time student interns.
In its more than 30 years, IST’s client base has grown well beyond its initial partnership with the Army. In addition to its sizeable contracts and continuing work with the Department of Defense, clients range from businesses and agencies seeking more effective ways to train (Google, Johnson & Johnson, US Department of Education, and Federal Aviation Administration, among others) and healthcare providers with similar training goals, to museums and science centers looking at how simulation can enhance their exhibits’ learning value.
Among the several labs to be featured at Innovations in Training 2016 will be the Mixed Emerging Technology Integration Lab (METIL), which was founded in 2006 by Training magazine’s long-time presenter, David Metcalf, Ph.D. David also has helped conceptualize this new Training magazine experience at UCF.
METIL partners with leaders from industry, academia and the military to create resources and develop innovative solutions with Web 2.0, mobile, games and simulations, virtual worlds, virtual and adaptive reality, and collaboration. Find out more about all the IST labs!
